Endoscopy's, lightsabers, and Harry potter

So, for the many of you who read this blog that are not gamers, the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic has finally been released. What does this mean, you ask? Well, it's pretty much World of Warcraft, except with Star Wars and that means that my boyfriend has been playing for three weeks nonstop with no hope of quitting. There's guilds and raids and a story and Alex even bought me the game with a three month subscription. However, yes folks, this game is even more addicting than WoW and that's crazy. However, this game has become kind of the new facebook for us socially. Many of my friends from far away also play this game, so many times I find myself hanging out with my best friend who lives in California and my ex-boyfriend who lives in Albany all at the same time as we fight a bunch of twi'leks. NYJedi is also heavily involved in playing the game, so we play with them quite often too.

This month I went to the gastroenterologist due to stomach problems that I have been having recently. I ended up getting an endoscopy on January 5th only to find out that nothing was wrong with me. It's most likely caused by stress and anxiety, which makes sense since these issues started when my stress levels at work reached a maximum. However, things have calmed down since the end of December so hopefully so will my stomach problems.

On January 14, we went to Puerto Rico to go scuba diving. We planned a week on the Southern coast, where the city of Ponce is. We flew into Ponce and spent two days there, taking in some of the sites and all the seafood. Then we headed to La Parguara, which was a fishing town west of Ponce known for the scuba diving. Monday morning we went out on a tiny boat to dive and that's when things went in a crappy direction. The ocean was terribly rough, so rough that every single person got sea sick except the captain and his mate. Alex and I had even prepared for this by taking maximum strength anti-nausea medication that I brought from my pharmacy and we still ended up terribly sick. Once we got down to stardard diving depth of 60 feet, it was nice... for me at least. I saw a good amount of coral, there was a wall of yellow fish that was hanging out under a coral bed and we did a really nice dive. Alex, however, was unable to equalize and was in searing pain the entire dive. This worried me because Alex had surgery for his sinuses and throat and had not gone scuba diving since. We ended up aborting the dive trip early and heading back to shore. Afterward, I ended up getting food poisoning from an empanada stand and we decided we have no reason to stay in Puerto Rico now that scuba diving is out. So after dinner, we booked two tickets to Orlando and headed back to Ponce the next day.

Alex and I took a 4am flight from Ponce, PR directly to Orlando. We decided to stay right in the Universal Orlando resort at the Pacific Bay Hotel. It was perfect. The weather was beautiful, there were barely any lines due to it being the off season and we were able to do every thing we wanted. After getting out of the airport at 6:30, we were able to get into our hotel room, grab our early access passes and get into Islands of Adventure at 8am. We made a beeline for Harry Potter world and was able to get right on the most famous ride, The Forbidden Adventure. It was one of the best rides I've ever been on! And that includes the Spider-Man ride!!! After that, we got some breakfast at a kiosk and bought a pumpkin juice, which was surprisingly good. Tasted like pumpkin pie that was juiced. After that, we went through the rest of Harry Potter world, then on to Marvel (my favorite place), the lost continent and Jurassic Park. I ended up buying Ginny Weasley's wand, a time turner keychain and a spider-man shirt. Plus we tried butterbeer, which is pretty much cream soda with this caramel froth on top. We ended up eating dinner at this wonderful tapas cafe called Cafe tu tu tango and going to sleep early to make up for the lack of sleep on the plane.

The next day was Universal studios. We found that a lot had changed from the last time we went when we were kids. For one: Back to the Future was gone, replaced by the Simpson's ride. Also the Jaws ride was not running for some reason. However, there were a few new rides that were pretty cool. The Mummy roller coaster was quite awesome, Terminator 2 3-D is probably the best show there and the Simpson's ride is pretty much the back to the future ride, even is the same sequence of movements. Friday was Seaworld, which was pretty fun. We got to pet dolphins, feed sea lions and look at lots of sharks. Plus we went to the dolphin show and the shamu show. Though looking at the fish, it's hard to be impressed after going scuba diving and seeing that kind of stuff up close and personal.

Our last day in Orlando was spent at the Kennedy Space Center. We took a ridiculously expensive taxi cab ride out there, but it was worth it. We went on a special tour where they opened the Vehicle Assembly Building to us, which allowed us to see this huge structure where the shuttles and rockets are built. We also got to see two of the space shuttles that were in the building, which were the Endeavor and Atlantis. Pretty awesome! We spent the entire day there and then ended the night at Red Lobster, doing the whole $15 deal they have that doesn't exist in New York City. Overall, not a bad vacation. Can't wait for the next adventure!!
