So this past week, Alex and I headed to the caymans to finish our scuba diving certification course. We had a lot of fun, even though is was a short. We went there on a wednesday and came back on sunday, but within those days, we actually did quite a bit. Our first night was pretty calm, just hanging around the hotel and getting food. But on thursday, we started our scuba diving. We saw quite a lot a marine life, including a pretty large turtle and a barracuda. The coral wasn't that vibrant, but I figure that's because it's the caymans' and the area has been polluted with tourists for a while. We finished all of our certification training by friday morning and were actually able to do an independent dive for the first time. So we went to this place called Stingray City. It was so amazing. We only went down about 10 feet, but there were huge stingrays that were happy to play with us and allow us to feed them squid.

It was quite fun. However, besides the amazing scuba diving, there wasn't much to do on the island. The seafood was to die for. Alex had a 2 pound lobster at one point. As far a souviners, they sell this thing called captain blackbeards rum cake, which is actually really good. So I've been giving my friends small versions of the cake that I bought there The trip was short but sweet and now Alex and I are certified open water scuba divers.
Not much else has been going on, which is normal for this time of year. Though I was able to help one of my friends find a job at my pharmacy, so we shall see how well that works out. Alex is also receiving surgery soon; he's receiving a tonsillectomy to help his sleep apnea. We are a little nervous about it, but is should be ok. Hopefully he will be healed up quickly.
Con season is coming up soon. Should have more info by then!
