Mid rotation reviews were supposed to be this week. However, because our store is so busy, my preceptor never got to them and she is going on vacation this next week. So I sent the forms to her through email and hope that the director back at LECOM knows what to do with them. This also means that I will not know how I'm doing so far, and that kind of worries me. I'm doing everything she has asked me, but I don't know if I'm up to "LECOMs" expectations of what I should be doing during this rotation. I've started to come into my own here at the pharmacy, being more familiar with the computer station, able to decipher doctors handwriting better, and have picked up the phone as much as possible with the hope that one of the phone calls will be for a consultation or a question about a drug (most people call the pharmacy to ask if their prescription is ready). Most of the questions are pretty easy and are usually about OTC medications. I even got to counsel someone on Alli and was able to convice them not to go on it due to the horrid side effects and negative clinical trials. Larry Sasich (my drug information teacher) and his little research buddy Phil Olsen would be so proud of me. I also was able to counsel about the flu vaccine, but it seems like no one will believe me when I say that there is no way to get the flu from the vaccine. One women even cried to me over the phone because I wouldn't give her the answer she was looking for (that you can get the flu from the vaccine). I think she was looking to sue us or something.

In other news, I've ventured in San Francisco these past two weekends. The first time was really interesting, since I stumbled upon this thing called lovefest. It was in a park and it had thousands of people just dancing in front of these trucks that were just big DJ stereo systems. Plus everyone was dressed very strangly. In fact, on more than one occasion I would come across middle aged men completely naked except for a hat and a small sock covering their penis (and only that). It was quite interesting. This weekend I went out to the bay and since it was fleet week I was able to see the Blue Angels do their sky show. I also just found out that my best friend from high school is coming out here to find work next week, so I'm hoping to have a lot of fun hanging out with him. We've already decided to celebrate halloween in Castro (the major gay district). There's a huge parade there every year. Well, here's to a better second half of my rotation!

San Fran is DEFINITELY an interesting place. I've never been there during any event, really, but I'm kind of glad now that I haven't... lol. Those outfits sound uncomfortable. I figure if I lived there I would probably gain 50 pounds on Ghiradelli (I'd have no problem standing in line for a free one as often as I could.) Then you would have to convince ME not to go on alli...
