Herpes and magic underwear

So first, a guy into the pharmacy today asking for a refill on two prescriptions. One was for acyclovir, the other for cialis. And they wonder why herpes is the number 1 STD in america. Anyway, I decided to go see the movie religioulus, which was a Bill Mahr film that showcased all different religions and finding the ridiculousness of them. It was actually pretty funny, especially since a lot of the film was about evangelical christians, who I have written off as crazy-go-nuts a long time ago. The LDS segment wasn't too long, which I was actually surprised about. It was probably because the church wouldn't let the filmmakers shoot in Salt Lake City nor did any church member want to talk to Bill. So it was mostly clips of old childrens cartoons from the 60s explaining church doctrine and interviews with ex-mormons. Oh, and they also displayed the temple garments and what they supposedly protect from (bullets, fire, blades and the devil). That was actually pretty funny, especially since they were showing garments that I really hope were from the 80s, because they were pretty fugly. I've seen the female garments now, and they seem a lot better. However, the movie did point out some point in the religion that, from an outside perspective, do seem pretty crazy. But hey, my friends talk about how mormons believe God is a space person all the time, so that is nothing new to me. Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to be eating dinner with the sister missionaries here, so that should be nice. I also went to FHE and institute this week and I really enjoyed that. Hopefully I'll have more fun next week (plus mid-rotation reviews).

Glad you liked FHE. Did you see conference? I saw a preview of Bill Mahr's thing, looked like nothing I haven't heard before--probably won't watch it--even if it wasn't "R". We go over a lot of the same type of stuff in my religion classes at BYU--how weird some things can sound, and how people, even LDS people, take things wrong sometimes and run away with crazy ideas about how the gospel is or isn't. I am surprized the Mormon part was short. It was long enough in the preview. Go figure. That does sound funny about the garments. It's true, a little. I don't like to be without them--I feel unsafe--especially driving. More so because I feel like I'm not keeping a covenant or something rather than that the material will protect me. I wish there was a simple way to explain garments--they mean so much to me. I guess that's the reason you don't get them until you go to the temple and can appreciate their meaning more. Love ya, Keep posting.
