Dear friends,
The year started off slow. I was working part time at a few different pharmacies and Alex was busy with Hublished. However, by February, Hublished started shutting down and I was still looking for work to supplement my income. I went for an interview to work part time at a pharmacy and ended up becoming supervising pharmacist at Chopin Chemists. At the same time, Hublished ended and Alex was out of work and an income. It seemed like a good time to look for something new and Alex decided to pursue his dream of creating a gaming company. So in March, Robotic Potato became Alex’s LLC and he started bringing in artists to help him create his games. Alex has released 2 games so far from his company with another one in the works
I stayed with the Chopin Chemists and made a great friend there. However, she ended up leaving in August after the owner made some bad decisions. I left shortly afterwards in October due to these bad decisions because I was concerned my license was being put at risk. I was then tapped by some investors, who learned of me through a few references, to help them start up a pharmacy. I decided to join up with them because of the connection with several HIV clinics and doctors offices. It’s been a long process, but things are finally looking our way. We should be opened by the end of the month with me as supervising pharmacist of BroadMeds Pharmacy.
In March, Alex finally proposed to me! It was very sweet and super geeky. So most of this year has been spent planning the wedding, which will be this coming March on Pi day (03/14/15). We are planning on a star wars/geek themed wedding that highlights all our hobbies and our relationship. We are planning on having our lightsaber choreography group, Empire Saber Guild, perform a show during the reception as well as have the groomsmen dress as Imperial Knights.
Obviously, this summer was super busy, as usual. Alex has become more involved in Empire Saber Guild (the Lucasfilm approved version of NYJedi) and spent a few weekends attending comic conventions and star wars fund raisers for ESG. I’ve been helping out with that as well. We also attended GenCon this year, but this time we made a road trip out of it. We visited our friends in Chicago and went to Cedar Point Amusement park along the way.
So here we are, then end of another year. We try to keep busy with our hobbies, which include going to a D&D game almost every week to finish up a campaign that has lasted over 10 years (and has a book written about it). Alex still plays his miniatures games in preparation for next years GenCon. I am looking forward to the wedding and our honeymoon, which if all goes well, will be Austrailia.
Sincerely,
Jenn Rabbin and Alex Lau
