So, after 2 years at 161st Street Pharmacy, I'm done! I finished on August 31st and will be starting my new job at a hospital on Monday!! The reasons I left are many and while I won't discuss them here, know that I feel safer, happier and more secure now that I've left.
Let's see, what's been happening in my life... Well, I guess I left at going to the APhA conference in New Orleans. That was a nice little weekend trip for Alex, while this was my way of getting all my credits out of the way before I renewed my license. We ate so much New Orleans food and I ended up networking with CVS and was given an interview in March, though it didn't lead to anything. Alex also started looking for a new job soon after my CVS interview and ended up quitting his highly paid, stable programming job at a financial firm in order to work as a co-founder and top programmer at a start-up company that is building a website called Hublished. He's getting paid less, but with the hope that in December, the project will be funded by venture capitalists and he can continue. Good thing is right now he works from home, set's his own schedule and loves it.
In June, I had my birthday and went down to Wildwood, NJ with my boyfriend and my family. We had so much fun playing skee ball, riding the rides and eating great boardwalk food. After that, Alex and I prepared for GenCon in August, which turned out to be amazing! We decided to take wednesday to sunday off so we could get there early and hang out with our friends. Unfourtantly, we ended up having a 5 hour delay and did not get into Indianapolis until 10pm anyway. Despite that, the Con was amazing. We played a ton of RPG games, play tested some new games and bought so much stuff. We hung out with our friends and had such a good time. I hope next year it's the same.
I quit my job on the 31st and decided to spend the week after labor day hanging around Chicago, since it's a city we have never been to, Alex could continue working while I went sightseeing and we could meet up with a friend we've never met in real life. It worked out pretty well and we ended up eating a lot of pizza, seeing a lot of places and spending a lot of time with our friend James. It was wonderful. Sadly, this will most likely be our last trip for quite a while. My parent's 30th anniversary will be in March and they want to take my sister and I to Germany for a family trip. So I will need to make sure I have vacation for that. And once the holiday's hit, Alex's work will increase since that is when is project is supposed to be done.
I'm very nervous about this new job, but I know it will be for the best.
