Oh god, this summer has been so busy!
First off, Alex has been trying to get word about his game out into the indie gaming community. So we have been going to events like mad, hiring our friends to help us out and in general doing a lot of gaming. We had gaming events in June, July, August and more scheduled for the months following. It's cost us a lot of money, but the reception of the game has been stellar. Everyone who plays the game is excited for the full game and loves the concept. July and August were the busiest for this because Alex and his company were chosen to go to Texas to showcase their game at TheGameCon in Galveston. The turnout was pretty good and they ended up getting almost 100 email addresses from the event.
I have been working in the pharmacy, which has been steadily rising in business. We've gone from doing 5 prescriptions a day to doing on average 30 a day. Our only issues have been with things we can't control. NYS medicaid is taking a very long time to approve us and that is limiting our ability to utilize our connections with the HIV clinics. But we are hopeful we will be approved in a few weeks and then we will ramp up pushing our connections.
This summer and year has also been filled with a lot of travel. We went to LA in the beginning of July to attend the wedding of one of Alex's cousins. It was a good time, but a flight from NYC to LA is 6 hours each way and we ended up being in LA almost as long as we were in the air. Then 2 weeks later we were flying again to Indianapolis to go to GenCon. And then of course, the next week, Alex and his crew headed to Galveston. I've also been able to secure 3 weeks off for my desperately needed honeymoon. So in October, Alex and I will be flying to Singapore and spending a few days there before spending the rest of our 3 weeks flying all over Australia. All the tickets are booked and I cannot wait!
I am also happy to report that being diagnosed with PCOS and put on meds has finally given me the ability to lose the weight I never could get off despite all my exercise. Since June, I've lost 15 lbs and I will hopefully lose 10 more before I go to Australia.
