Of course in this picture, we are bored off our asses. But alas, that is the nature of Cons we must work at.
The month of june is particularly busy, especially since it is also the month of my birthday. That's right, folks. On June 5th, I turned 25. And for my quarter century birthday, I decided to take my boyfriend and one of our good friends, Aaron, down to Wildwood, NJ. Wildwood is this set of islands on the Jersey coast that has a huge boardwalk with a ton of rides, games, food and merchandise. I'm a huge skee ball fan and wanted to make a day of that. So the three of us headed to AC friday night and stayed over at Alex's parents house. Then saturday morning we headed to Wildwood and spent the day there. Alex and Aaron rode rollercoasters, we went on go carts, we did the swings and the tilt-a-whirl and of course, we played a TON of skee ball. We ended up playing so much skee ball that I was able to cash in my tickets for this adorable set of Starship enterprise and space Shuttle salt and pepper shakers. It was a great day.
However, this month was turned to a bit of saddness when we found out over my birthday that Alex's mother has breast cancer and needed surgery. So right before the Comic Convention, Alex ended up spending a whole week in Atlantic City attending to his mother. We are all a bit worried about her, since looking at the scans there is a possibility this is now stage 3 cancer. But Alex's sister, Amy, will be helping out during the summer so Alex won't have to take off anymore time for family obligations. This is good because between Alex's tonsil surgery and the week he spent in AC, all he has left for time off is vacation days, which we would prefer he did not use just yet.
The next con to come will be GenCon, which is a famous RPG/D&D gaming convention. I'm excited to go and Alex is jumping at the bit to go out there. I will also be attending a wedding for my cousin Tiffany at the end of July, so that should be nice. Next thing is to try to get some scuba diving in this summer. Hopefully that will happen.
